Ordering Books
All CMU students can purchase books through the CMU Virtual Bookstore. Books may be offered in a variety of formats including new, used, digital, rental and marketplace. Students can log into the virtual bookstore using their myCMU username and password to receive their custom book list.
Book Rental Information
Textbook rentals are an affordable way to obtain textbooks. When selecting the rental option, a credit card to keep on file will be requested. The credit card expiration must surpass the rental time period. Charges will only be made to the card if the textbook is not returned at the end of the semester. Rental textbooks can be returned via a prepaid label found in the Virtual Bookstore or by drop off in the Eagle Store during finals week.
Book Return Policy
Textbooks can be returned up to 30 days from the start of class. New textbooks must be in original condition in order to receive a refund. If the item was shrink wrapped, it must still be shrink wrapped upon return. Ebooks products can be returned as long as the viewed content did not exceed 20 percent. There are no exceptions.
Refunds occur in the same manner as the purchase. If you purchased by credit card, then it will be credited back to your card. If you were issued a voucher for books, then your student account will be credited. Checks must have ten working days to have cleared the bank.
We cannot refund money for any course packs, nor can they be sold back to us during buyback. These course packs are special orders, not published textbooks. They are indicative only to CMU, and have no resale value to a book dealer. Copyright law also prohibits reselling used copies.
